In the midst of a global economic crisis, the blue economy is key to developing our future maritime territories. The Atlantic Blue Tech project aims to harness the power of the ocean as a vital resource for innovation, growth and jobs.
Marine bio-resources are still largely unexploited by businesses, though it is a sector with high growth potential. The Atlantic Blue Tech project intends to promote and develop the marine bio-resources sector at an Atlantic level. Gathering economic and innovation development agencies, local authorities and scientific organisations, the project aims at capitalizing on projects and initiatives previously developed under this theme. Project partners will identify the main obstacles to the development of the sector, in order to then define corrective measures; contributing to the operational implementation of the action plan recently adopted in the framework of the EU Maritime Strategy for the Atlantic Region.
Goal
The main objective of the AtlanticBlueTech project is to enhance the blue biotechnologies niche of excellence, factor of growth for the Atlantic area, with a specific focus on innovation and smallto medium-sized companies.
